Cooking with Hurley Ray & Chuck was a hit show on WKFK Channel 7 featuring the well known duo showing viewers how to cook cajun style dishes. The series slowly shifted away from cooking demonstrations and into promoting small businesses dealing with the food industry. Episodes featured iconic locations such as Bozo’s Seafood in Pascagoula, MS and even charitable events meant to raise money for local causes.
In 2010, Chuck left the show due to schedule conflicts and the show was renamed,”Cooking With Hurley Ray & Friends.” Initially each episode featured a guest, usually a host from another WKFK produced show or local politician, that would accompany Hurley Ray visiting a myriad of locations including local festivals, restaurants, or private parties. This continued for one season, at which point older episodes featuring Chuck Simpson were edited with new openings and closings to reflect staff that had left. A DVD production of TAG Entertainment featuring Hurley Ray titled, “Cooking With The Champs,” was later edited for television featuring Hurley’s competitive BBQ friends demonstrating their techniques used in food competitions.
